Community Compost Tour
Heart of BS13 are excited to invite you to the farm to learn about their composting programme, and how it’s improving the environment in and for our community.
Composting is a amazing process, creating healthy soil which is essential for life. And turning food waste into compost is a simple, easy and effective way of caring for the environment and improving the soil for future generations. We are confident that after coming on this compost tour, you’ll never want to throw your food waste in the bin again!
You can find out more about how Heart of BS13 are helping to care for the soil in BS13 here.
What will happen on the tour? You’ll be taken to see a Ridan composting machine, which allows food waste to be processed before it goes into compost bays. You’ll get to help turn the compost and load it into the bays, check out the bugs and other life in our living soil, and visit Heart of BS13’s flower farm where the compost ends up. And there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, over tea and cake!
