30 hours a week average including every other weekend
Salary: £12.92 per hour

We are looking for a Farmer to join the team at Hartcliffe City Farm. Our Farmers undertake livestock care, site maintenance and provide a welcoming presence for visitors. This exciting role is suitable for someone with a wide range of practical and inter-personal skills who has a keen interest in animal care, farming and provision of community spaces and programmes.

About the farm

We are a friendly and dedicated team working to provide a welcoming community space for local residents and education and wellbeing programs. Our beautiful 6-acre site comprises of a playful-barn and cafe, several gardens, a farmyard with a variety of animals, a flower farm and a number of buildings which are used for community activities. We are a public site, open 9-4 seven days a week.

Essential criteria

  • At least 1 year of working within a similar environment including working with farm animals 
  • Knowledge, skills and experience of undertaking basic animal care 
  • Wide range of practical skills of building maintenance and repair. 
  • Good communication skills and ability. 
  • Experience of working with a wide range of people from a variety of backgrounds and ages. 
  • Able to operate on own, using initiative to solve problems arising from workload. 
  • Ability to handle a range of physical outdoor work. Mucking out animals to moving haybales and farming related items.  
  • Take on the role of First Aider (training will be provided if necessary). 
  • Working knowledge of health and safety principles and willingness to be trained further. 
  • A proven ability to work flexibly and as part of a team. 
  • Computer literate. 
  • A clear commitment to Equal Opportunities perspective in all areas of work. 
  • The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. 
  • An interest in the aims and mission of the farm.
